On Mondays, you might find some of us at house meetings discussing local issues that affect not only our families, but other families in the community or teaching classes or leading worship at the local jail…
On Tuesdays, some of us will be practicing with the local Gay Men’s chorus, Council Oak Men’s Chorale, or attending the local meeting of PFLAG, while others might be at the local banquet for Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry, CAIR or another group we support, like NAMI or JustHope.
Wednesdays will find our folks serving “veggie lunch” at United Campus Ministry on the campus of the University of Tulsa in the day and then at book study that evening, having coffee and discussing the latest reads, or attending our monthly “Taste of Something Different”, sharing a meal and hearing from a local speaker, watching a TED talk or getting a mission update…
Thursdays we might be downtown feeding the homeless with some of the other churches in town, at a monthly meeting for the local community organizing group, ACTION (Allied Communities of Tulsa Inspiring Our Neighborhoods), or having a glass of wine or a beer with some friends…
Fridays we attend the weekly rally protesting mass deportation at the county jail with The New Sanctuary Network, then maybe it’s a wedding rehearsal, Gay bingo night at the Equality Center, a poetry slam at one of the local coffee shops, or a chance for some R&R…
Saturdays we feed the homeless at The Day Center for the Homeless, we go to endless soccer, baseball and basketball games, and do annual events like march in the PRIDE parade. We walk in the park, tend to our gardens, mow the lawn, take a nap…
Our regular booth at PRIDE!
And Sundays? Well, we gather back together as a church family to re-charge, to tell our stories, to experience God together in sanctuary…we might be having a potluck after church, or a board meeting, or celebrating a birth, or a wedding, or a birthday…and looking for God in all of these things, all the time…
